For the tenth episode of our Molecast series, founder, perfumer and nose behind Escentric Molecules, Geza Schoen, sits down with Susan Irvine to muse on the future of perfumery.

Our Molecast series explores the stories behind the creation of EM fragrances, offering an insight into the world of visionary perfumer Geza Schoen.

In this episode, Geza talks all things "marketing nonsense", fossilised hyrax's shit, coffee beans that wander through a cat's intestines and the future of fragrance as the place where we re-evaluate the past.

"I can tell you what I would think the future of fragrance would be like. It would be great if some of the chemicals and the naturals stolen from the perfumer's palette would return, not necessarily in the same shape. It is unlikely that we will see lots of new naturals coming in because we don't have a new nature, and our nature is dying anyway. To suddenly find a fruit, a flower, a resin, or a bark that we can take essential oils from and have enough big scale to produce that for the fragrance industry, that's just not going to happen."
